We get so wrapped up in our grand plans for life, for changing our own lives, for changing the world that we forget the small things. There are powerful small things that each of us choose to do or choose not do every single day of our lives.
It’s important that we don’t forget the power, importance, and beauty of small things.
I was in Big Sur California recently. If you’ve been then you know that the views are too big to take in with a single glance. I was taking in all of this expansive beauty completely unaware of what was directly around me and then I realized there were an immense amount of beautiful small things all around me.
Focusing solely on the big things is to live in an unbalanced way and to preclude an immense amount of joy and beauty and love and wonder that the world has to offer.
Think about the last time that somebody waited an extra second to hold the door for you, it isn't a grand gesture but it does have a grand effect. It impacted you. A small gesture had the power to impact you.
We cannot forget to give ourselves credit for the small things in our lives as well as holding ourselves responsible for the small things in our lives and most importantly not forgetting the beauty of the small things in this world.
